Your Go-To Legal Printing GuideHow to print legal files?

Quick overview of the best way for solicitors, lawyers, and other legal practitioners to print their documents easily and responsibly.

What is the accepted format?

Unless otherwise stated, most legal and court documents should be on A4-sized paper. Specific cases may require the use of A6, A5, A3, and other sizes, but the industry standard is A4. Whether from Privy Council, Supreme Court or House of Lords bundles, we can print everything in the designated size.

Does it need to be Single-Sided?

Courts often specify whether certain documents should be single or double-sided so that they can be processed efficiently. The general rule is to use a single-sided format, so it’s easier to scan into the document retrieval system and avoid mistakes (e.g., forgetting to scan the back of a page). Legal documents between private parties, however, can often be double-sided, which is a great way to cut paper consumption. If you are concerned about reducing your CO2 footprint and protecting the environment, you’re not alone. At Printt, we use responsibly sourced paper, and we do our best to restore nature and biodiversity through our nonprofit partners.

Standards for colour printing?

There is no real standard when it comes to printing in colour. However, we would advise you print documents that contain more images in colour as it stands out better when somebody is skimming through the pages. We print documents both in colour and black & white. Whether you need us to print coloured court bundles or just a black & white contract, you can expect supreme quality with each order. If you only need certain pages in colour, and the rest in black & white, we can do that, too.

What about splitting documents in lever arch folders?

Court document printing often includes multi-page files. Lever arch folders have become the de-facto standard when it comes to printing and submitting case files in courts. With Printt, you don’t have to worry about finding suitable dividers and binding options. We will carefully print and organise your documents in neat 20mm,40mm or 80mm lever arch folders or other appropriate peripherals to ensure your paper assets are easy to navigate and in perfect condition.
